This Sunday I was teaching in Children’s church on the Apostles Creed. “On the third day Jesus rose from the dead.”

I’m looking over the lesson wondering what I want the kids to takeaway. Wait, stop. This is really important. The resurrection is a HUGE lesson. I want them to know this is important, the most important. That’s the takeaway.

Important is defined as having great significance or value.

I sit down on the floor and ask my cute little friends what is something in their life that’s important to them and why?

  • My American girl doll, because it was my Mom’s and she gave it to me.

The list goes on, but we come to the conclusion that these items are important because they show love. Someone’s love for us, or our love for them.

I take a minute to show them my most precious possessions. The jewelry I wear every day. Each ring reminds me of someone I love and their love toward me.

“On the third day he rose again from the dead.”

This statement is the MOST important because it means that Jesus conquered death. And if we believe in Him we die with Him and we will be raised with Him. Death has no more power.

That has significance and great value. That’s important.

And the fun part is that the open tomb looks like a ring! 💍 😉
