The right question.

The depth of the question was like the depth of the crater. A straight shot to the bottom where you find the beauty and the deep blue of someone’s soul.
And all I wanted was for them to ask it back. Please ask me - what is something I wish people asked me about. Ask! Go down the side of the mountain and listen.
It was ironic because the three of us had stayed at the top. At the surface. But our conversation went deep. We had spent most of the morning journaling and connecting with God. But I wanted connection together. So I asked the question I had heard earlier this week. Wondering if we could share something around the table with coffee in hand. How would I ever know how much this young woman loves to cook and wants to start a YouTube Channel. Or how would I ever hear how life in the Bahamas is and what it was like to grow up there. Only when we give people the space to share.
It makes me wonder how often we are staying on the surface. Deciding to sit in the coffee shop instead of climbing down the crater into the deep of one another’s soul.
And here’s the thing. They all said thank you. Thank you for letting me share. Thank you for letting me talk about the most important part of me. The deep blue of my soul.
