I wrote this letter to one of my 7th grade friends. She signed up for a young adult bakeoff event and I was her videographer. Everything went completely wrong and we ended up with macaroon soup. But I learned a valuable lesson that night. Here's the letter I wrote to her. I hope you can learn this lesson too.

Dear Friend,

I am so proud of you! I have to tell you, that as I was thinking about the bakeoff I realized how brave you are. You have courage my friend. It took courage to ask to sign up for the event. No other 7th grader did that and you were bold to ask. I was impressed. And you stepped out in courage to do something you’ve never done before in front of a group = BRAVERY!

The best part was that you failed. But you failed beautifully. You put everything into it, you tried your hardest and you had fun! You had such a great attitude. I heard from so many people that they loved watching you. And you walked away at the end, saying I’m going to get better, I’m going to practice this and make the best macaroons. That is inspiring.

Never forget this my friend. Never forget that you tried something out of your element. Never forget that you were whole hearted in every minute. Know that even though you failed, you are NOT a failure. In Christ you have already succeeded because of what He did on the cross for you. And you have freedom now to try and fail.

I want you to do this for the rest of your life. Try things! Try things you may fail at. Put your whole heart into it, knowing Christ is cheering you on and you can’t fail.

I think I needed this reminder probably more than you. So thank you for teaching me a valuable lesson.

We failed wonderfully!

Love,

Lindsey <3
