Souvenirs

They are stressing me out.

I just spent a season of purging. I sold all my things. Everything. If it couldn’t fit in my two suitcases it had to go. And it made me do a lot of thinking about stuff in general. Why do I have this? Why am I keeping it? Does it bring me joy? Do I use it? Do I need it?
To be honest it brought up a lot of questions in my own heart. What do we actually need? I was getting down to things that were gifts and memories. Do I keep the keychain that my friend made for me? Can I take a picture of it to remember? Should I only keep things that are useful?
And now traveling around there’s so many souvenir shops. Selling more things. So now I’m asking the question why should I buy it? Is it for the memories? Because I look back on other trips I have taken and the thing itself doesn’t hold the memory. I hold the memory. The pictures, my journal, or even my own thoughts are the things that I will remember.
But also what are things that just bring joy? I just like the dress so I want to buy it.
