Mission - What's your why?

During the first weeks of practice I had the girls sign a contract. The purpose was to share expectations for being on this team and holding each person accountable.

This document has been 3 years in the making. My first year coaching we created the mission statement for the team. It was a rough season and the girls were feeling defeated after a series of hard losses. We needed to be reminded "Why" we play soccer. We met in the locker room and watched a video by Simon Sinek "How great leaders inspire action." The main takeaway is that inspiring companies and leaders focus on their "why" for doing what they do.

We wrote on the whiteboard all the reason why we play soccer. After looking at all the words we decided to put them into categories. And we found that there were two main reasons. 1. Because we have a skill or talent and it's fun to use it. 2. We love playing with our friends and enjoying it with people we love.
