Dinner Date

“It’s like the feeling after a great date where you keep replaying every moment and your cheeks are hurting from smiling so much.”
That’s exactly right.
You never know when a meal is going to be the one that changes your life.

This is one I keep replaying. I’m remembering the texture of the pierogi. I still can’t decide which one was my favorite. The cheese, no the spinach, no the pumpkin. My favorite was the one I did the dance after. Oh shoot, that was all of them.

The soup that had more flavor than any soup I’ve ever had. It warmed my soul on the coldest night walking through Poland. And the bread. Bread that was so soft.
I tried to slow down because I didn’t want to finish it. I didn’t want it to end. Why does this meal have to end?

But it’s true about this trip as well. Only a few days or hours in each country. Falling in love with this one already and sad we are going to have to leave soon. But knowing it will end makes you slow down and savor it. It’s forced presence in the moment because you know if you don’t eat it the food will get cold, but you must finish it and it will have an end.
And we are only 12 hours into the trip.
